     Maharashtra Education Society was established in the year 1860. This is the oldest educational society in Pune city, Maharashtra, India. Maharashtra Education Society was established by

  • Like many other educational institutions in Maharashtra, this institution aimed at giving education with a national content to the young generation.
  • At the time of establishment, the name of the institute was 'Pune Native Institution
  • On 27th August 1922 the name of the institution was changed to ' Maharashtra Education Society, Pune'
  • Shri. Vasudeo Balwant Phadke, a pioneer revolutionary of the freedom movement was amongst the founder members of the MES.
